Robotics Club at Agrupamento de Escolas Raul Proença qualifies for the World Olympiad
The Programming and Robotics Club of Agrupamento de Escolas Raul Proença - Caldas da Rainha took part in the Robotics Olympiad — an event promoted by the Associação de Professores de Informática (ANPRI) and serving as qualification for the World Robot Olympiad (WRO 2025). The competition took place on 9 May at Escola Augusto Cabrita, in Barreiro.
Representing the school group was a delegation of 36 students and 4 teachers, who entered six teams in different categories. Three of those teams competed in the qualification trials for the world championship — RobotMission Junior and RobotSports — with notable performance: the team "HTTPS://" won the RobotMission Junior competition, while the teams "Energia sem Limites" and "Pastéis de Nata" won 1st and 2nd place respectively in RobotSports.
These results secured qualification for Agrupamento de Escolas Raul Proença to represent Portugal in the World Robot Olympiad final, which will take place in Singapore in November. Participation will be ensured by two of the winning teams, once again taking the name of the school and the country to the highest level of international educational robotics.
In the non-official competitions, performance was also outstanding. In Dança com Robôs, the team "Dancei sem querer" won 1st place, and in the Percurso "Volta a Portugal" challenge, the teams "The Goats" and "Tínhamos um plano, juro" achieved 1st and 2nd place.
During the event, first-year students on the Professional Course in Management and Programming of Information Systems at the school group also had the opportunity to take part in soldering workshops and introductory robotics sessions, where they acquired fundamental practical skills for their professional future. These activities provided direct experience with current technologies, sparking interest in the information technology and robotics sectors, while promoting teamwork and the ability to solve technical problems.
Being present at this competition marks the culmination of a school year full of work, dedication and learning. The club proudly highlights the students' progress, not only at a technical level, but also in their autonomy and team spirit.
Agrupamento de Escolas Raul Proença continues to establish itself as a national reference in robotics and programming education, encouraging young people to explore science and technology from an early age.
