Robotics Club at Agrupamento de Escolas Raul Proença shines at the Robotics Olympiad
On 10 May, the Robotics Club of Agrupamento de Escolas Raul Proença was present once again at one of the largest robotics competitions at national level — the Robotics Olympiad. The event, organised by the Associação de Professores de Informática (ANPRI), took place at Agrupamento de Escolas Augusto Cabrita, in Barreiro, and brought together students from across the country around programming and robotics challenges.
Agrupamento de Escolas Raul Proença stood out by entering three teams in the Robot Mission competition, achieving the top three places in the junior level. The students' participation in this competition aimed to develop skills in programming and basic robotics concepts (environment perception, control and navigation); engineering (building a robot that can push/lift objects of certain sizes); finding the best strategies to solve concrete missions; computational thinking (for example: adjustments, debugging, collaboration, etc.); and teamwork, communication, problem solving and creativity.
"We are extremely proud of our students, who remained focused and committed throughout. This result reflects the effort and passion they put into solving programming and robotics challenges," said one of the club's coordinators.
ANPRI, which officially represents Portugal at the World Robot Olympiad (WRO), is the organising body of this prestigious event and will be responsible for selecting the teams that will represent Portugal internationally. The Raul Proença Robotics Club therefore awaits with great anticipation confirmation of qualification for the world competition, which will take place in Turkey in November. This will be a unique opportunity for the students to demonstrate their skills at international level and compete with the best in the world.
In addition, the Programming and Robotics Club at Raul Proença would like to express its gratitude to Transwhite, Lda, which provided transport so that participation in the event was possible.
Agrupamento de Escolas Raul Proença continues to invest in the technological education of its students, encouraging participation in events that promote innovation and the development of crucial skills for the future. The results achieved at the Robotics Olympiad are testimony to the success of this educational approach.
